Blog

There are so many good ones "out there", but these are some of the best. In answer to many questions, I don't include these on my blogroll, since my blog is about adoptive parenting, and lots of folks on the infertility journey don't find it helpful to hang out at an adoption blog. I always include information about where the bloggers are in the infertility process for those of you that need to be self protective, which, as most of you know, I strongly encourage. Please let me know via my contact page of any other blogs you think are beyond the average and reaching towards great.

  • Stirrup Queens and Sperm Palace Jesters has got to be the guru of all infertility blogs. I would love it for its name alone, but fortunately, she has much, much more to offer. If you are wondering where she is on the fertility journey, she has young twins conceived through IUI with injectibles, and is in and out of treatment for a third kiddo. This site is more than just a blog—it is the go-to place to get information and support for infertility. Don’t miss this one.
  • A Little Pregnant has got to be one of the best. Julie has a pre-schooler and a newborn and has gone through the whole nine yards, from multiple rounds of IVF, to ectopic pregnancy, to premature birth. She's also very funny. Yes, her language is not exactly pristine, but she explains it best. In answer to why she swears she replies: "My mother always told me that using foul language betrayed a lack of imagination and poor verbal skills. But you try having your uterus filled with glow-in-the-dark dye and then we'll discuss what kind of language seems appropriate."
  • The Hardest Quest will help you feel less alone. They have male factor infertility caused by a vasectomy that refused to be reversed. They've been trying to conceive since 2003. I feel better when I read this blog.

  • Tracy Morris has a couple of interesting blogs on infertility. She is at the post-infertility, child raising stage, but she still posts occasionally on her “trying to conceive” blog (Baby-Making), although nowadays it is mostly up to date news on infertility rather than personal saga. She also has a terrific blog (How to Make a Family: The Industry Blog) on the industry of infertility. It is a real eye opener and worth the read. Her writing is smooth and fun.

  • Stirrup Queen's List of Blogs (Perhaps better known as "the Stirrup Queen's Completely Anal List of Blogs That Proves That She Really Missed Her Calling as a Personal Organizer“). This is the mother of all blogrolls. Every blog on infertility and adoption ever created, or just about, is listed on this magnificent collection of blogs. The blogroll is actually searchable, meaning, there is a custom search engine that searches only the blogs on the blogroll. This is a very useful tool.

  • An Uppercasewoman's self description just about says it all: The rantings of a foul-mouthed liberal, feminist, fat, recovering alcoholic, mother, wife, woman and witer. If you are easily offended by the F word or politics, don't tune in; if not, enjoy. She lost twin sons in 2004 and now has a daughter born in 2006. She blogs about life, but also about grief, which is, after all, a part of life and an unfortunate part of infertility.

  • Twin Peas Blog Kelly Damron is a mom to IVF twins and she blogs about infertility, premature birth, and raising twins. I interviewed her on the Jan.14, 2009 Creating a Family radio show on the topic of reducing the number of mulitple births with Assisted Reproductive Technology.

  • Parenthood For Me is a blog written by a mom who underwent IVF treatment unsuccessfully and then decided to adopt. Her blog provides support to those undergoing infertility treatments and/or adoption.
